High School:

The District GATES Resource Teacher hosts morning seminars on a regular basis at each high school. GATES students are invited to attend these before school meetings centered on topics relevant to the needs of gifted high school students and possible services.

The following are GATES-Sponsored programs that are open to all OCS students who apply and meet rigorous qualifications for acceptance. GATES students are encouraged to take advantage of these unique opportunities.  GATES Coordinators will send information to students and the information will be posted on the district’s website closer to the time each is offered.

Oldham County Leadership Academy

This program is currently underway for 2018-19; student selection for 2019-20 will take place next August/September.

Students completing eighth through eleventh grades may choose to take this combination course. Fit for Life is the PE portion, which is taken during the summer plus five Saturdays during the fall, and is paired with an on-line health course. Taking the health/PE credit in this way gives students the benefit of more flexibility in their high school schedules.  Applications are released in January.
